 Hymenomycetes / Note 02

Lineage: Hymenomycetes > mitosporic Hymenomycetes > Cryptococcus:

All of the unnamed species herein should be moved to ‘Hymenomycetes > Heterobasidiomycetes > Tremellomycetidae > Tremellomycetidae incertae sedis > Cryptococcus’ until their precise phylogenetic affiliation is reported. The following can already be placed in better defined lineages:

move Crypt. sp. CECT 11955 to ‘(...) Tremellales > mitosporic Tremellales’

move Crypt. sp. JCM 11356 to ‘ (...) mitosporic Tremellales’

move Crypt. spp. KCTC 17061 through to KCTC 17070 to ‘(...) mitosporic Tremellales’

Status:  Implemented only for the specified entries (19.12.03).

 Hymenomycetes / Note 01

According to data published in Scorzetti et al. 2002 (FEMS Yeast Research) the following species should be moved out of ‘mitosporic Hymenomycetes’ into the following groups:

The single sequence under Cryptococcus adeliae should be moved to Cryptococcus adeliensis (Tremellomycetidae > Filobasidiales > mitosporic Filobasidiales).

Cryptococcus consortionis should be moved to Tremellomycetidae > Filobasidiales > mitosporic Filobasidiales.

Cryptococcus cylindricus should be moved to Tremellomycetidae > Filobasidiales > mitosporic Filobasidiales.

Cryptococcus heimaensis (undescribed) should be renamed Cryptococcus sp. and moved to Tremellomycetidae > Tremellales > mitosporic Tremellales.

Cryptococcus niccombsii (undescribed) should be renamed Cryptococcus sp. and moved to Tremellomycetidae > Cystofilobasidiales > mitosporic Cystofilobasidiales.

Cryptococcus nodaensis (undescribed) should be renamed Cryptococcus sp. and should be moved to Tremellomycetidae > Tremellales > mitosporic Tremellales.

Cryptococcus socialis should be moved to Tremellomycetidae > Filobasidiales > mitosporic Filobasidiales.

Cryptococcus statzellii should be moved to Tremellomycetidae > Tremellales > mitosporic Tremellales.

       Status: Implemented (07.01.03).
